  3. DJ Overdose - "I See No Stars At Night" (4:16)
  4. DJ Overdose - "Potje Freaken" (4:55)
Review: The Go Finger label has been digging into the undergrowth of synthwave sounds and deviant electro for a few years now, more recently graduating from the tape scene to put out EPs of leftfield electronic adventures on wax. This EP in particular is quite something, calling on the vintage talents of Das Ding in all their eerie, warped, pulsing, analogue refinement. "Conun Drum" is a curiously playful trip through noirish cityscapes by way of strobing lead lines and militaristic machine beats, while "Life Is A Tool In The Hands Of Strangers" takes a more uptempo approach without losing the bombast of their melodic arrangements. Dutch electro champ DJ Overdose steps up for the B side, dropping the overcast and creeping "I See No Stars At Night" and the dishevelled robot beatdown "Potje Freaken".

  3. DJ Overdose - "Racing All The Time" (5:25)
  4. DJ Overdose - "Talking Science 2" (5:44)
Review: For the second volume in the When Cities Collide series, RotterHague has served up tracks from Dutch stalwart DJ Overdose and lesser-known Detroit bad boy DJ Maaco. The latter handles side A, diving headfirst into alien electro pastures via the woozy, low register chords, starburst electronics and robotic vocoder vocals of "Activate Your Feet", before serving up the squeezable electrofunk business of "I'm In My Lane". Over on the flip, DJ Overdose envelopes a ghetto-tech tempo electro beats with hugely attractive electronic motifs on the terrific "Racing All The Time", before throwing a skip-full of broken computers at a deliciously distorted electro beat on frazzled EP closer "Talking Science 2".

Electro
  1. Feeding The Fad (4:51)
  2. Hip To The Hype (4:38)
  3. Probably Too Commercial (7:13)
Review: Label-hopping Dutchman DJ Overdose can usually be relied upon to bring the goods. Happily, he's in fine form on this first solo Unknown to the Unknown appearance since 2015's fantastic Housejam Freaker. Wisely, he's decided to steer clear of well-worn retro-futurist cliches (jungle breaks, hardcore revivalism and so on), instead delivering a trio of raw cuts that blend elements of electro, 1990 style European techno and blistering acid house. Flipside "Probably Too Commercial", a rough-and-ready dose of distorted, high octane electro smothered in alien electronics, is probably the pick of the bunch, though sweaty, stab-tastic opener "Feeding The Fad" - all razor-sharp electronic riffs, wayward drum machine beats and old school vocal samples - also impresses.

  3. DJ Technician - "Je Weet Toch" (4:28)
  4. DJ Technician - "It's Nokoman" (6:13)
Review: Two of Holland's fiercest electro gonna, DJ Overdose and DJ Technician, are back on our charts with an equally ferocious twelve inch that marks the start of the RotterHague imprint. Just in time, it seems. Aside from Detroit's long dynasty of electro, these two have been waving the flag for Europe, always coming through with killer grooves and mean, lean disposition that makes the certified kings! DJ Overdose's two bombs, "Meltdown Is Imminent" and "We All Have Bloody Thoughts", are proper club burners, guided by strong rhythms that make them accessible to the techno DJs, as well as the house heads. On the flip, the Technician rolls out another two fiery stormers, with "Je Weet Toch" providing the trap vibes, and "It's Nokoman" unleashing the sci-fi cinematics through eerie, breathtaking synths. Dutty.

  4. Automatic Tasty - "I Can't Find My Own Manual (How Therefore Am I To Restore To My Factory Settings?)" (5:09)
Review: You can always rely on Dublin's Lunar Disko Records to provide the heat; this time it's in the form of some heavyweight electro vibes by the industry's best and brightest. But this is no surprise given the imprint's invariable doses of quality. First up is Dutch maestro DJ Overdose with "Arecibo", a comparatively more pensive and introspective electro appearance than his usual work, but TR One's "Escape From Enceladus" takes this pensive sway of synths and crystal-like sonics to an even deeper level. Raiders Of The Lost Arp kick off the flip side with the smooth and suave flow of "Equinox", this one belonging more to the house end of the spectrum, whereas Automatic Tasty comes through with a quirky little digi number with the aptly odd name of "I Can't Find My Own Manual (How Therefore Am I To Restore My Factory Settings?)". A tidy little blast of synth-filled goods.
