Review: Given his dedication to party-starting house and techno jams shot through with the warehouse-friendly sounds of the late '80s and early '90s, you'd expect this double-disc In The House mix from Unknown to the Unknown boss DJ Haus to be a riotous, energy-packed affair. It is, of course, with the experienced DJ/producer gleefully joining the dots between original rave-era fare and contemporary retro-futurist gems that pay tribute to piano house, early US garage, classic Italian house and Chicago jack. Both mixes bristle with ear-catching riffs, big builds and colossal drops, with highlights coming thick and fast. As a result, we'd argue that DJ Haus has delivered one of the best In The House mixes to date.

Deep House
  1. Flange Trax (5:18)
  2. Freq Trak (4:36)
  3. Trof Trak (5:13)
Review: Following their floor-flattening EP on Dixon Avenue earlier this year Map (aka Mak of Mak & Pasteman) and DJ Haus team up once again with three more equally forthright stampers. Pure technoid body-jacking acid house business "Flange Trax" chat discourse erotically, "Freq Trak" slaps with relentless ghetto aggression while "Trof Trak" takes us on more of an off-beat dubby departure before stripping back to reveal a spine made of solid techno steel. Time to get a little freqy...

Techno
  1. X-Mod (7:15)
  2. Bang It (5:42)
  3. Drive MF (4:26)
Review: Chiwax wlecomes DJ Haus aka Rupert Cogan (the hardest working man in show business!) head of Uttu & Hot Haus Records. He teams up with Mak & Pasteman here on this killer 12'. He's released already on the respected Clone Jack for Daze series, Creme Organization and of course his own imprints to name a few. The new three tracker comes around in good Dance Mania style. Chicago House meets UK Garage. On the A side is the early rave of "X-Mod" reflecting a love of all things early Plus 8, while on the flip "Bang It" continues on with some Relief Records style Chicago hard house shenanigans the the relentless jack-attach-drum-track that is "Drive MF".

  1. Roza Terenzi - "Oxygen Stomp" (5:09)
  2. DJ Haus - "Rushing" (4:53)
  3. Secret Circuit - "Freak Tool" (5:58)
  4. TMO - "Tanzbar Jam" (5:26)
  5. Phran - "Vibrothang" (4:35)
  6. Furious Frank - "Bonza Lemonza!" (5:09)
Review: The Ozzie label Pelvis has been on a tight roll since they came into the picture a couple years back, and thanks to release by peeps like Luca Lozano, Body Corp and Mall Grab, they've managed to rack up a little hype along the way! They're back with the second edition of the DJ Tools, and there's some hot talent inside: Roza Terenzi's electro opener "Oxygen Stomp" is a certified flow-filler these days, DJ Haus' stomping house nugget "Rushing" has that Chicago badness right up there in its DNA, and Secret Circuit's "Freak Tool" carries a fine percussion loop alongside twisted cowbells and chopped-up vocals. On the flipside, TMO comes through with "Tanzbar Jam", a minimalistic drum machine tool with a raw edge, Phran's "Vibrothang" is a marvellous little jungle stomper, and Furious Frank's "Bonza Lemonza!" gives new meaning to what we usually call 'Fingers Acid' - what a beauty of an EP. Tip!!!
