  2. Riding The Void (Scuba pulse mix) (7:05)
  3. Riding The Void (Nought remix) (7:05)
  4. Riding The Void (tool) (3:24)
Review: One of experimental electronic music's most transgressive labels returns and it's always a pleasure; this time in the form of Frankfurt legend Uwe Schmidt. "Riding The Void" with its dark and dense minimal electro workout builds gradually, showcasing the immaculate studio skills he has become renown over the last 25 years. There's some fine remixes on offer here too; none other than Scuba stepping up to offer a tremendously dark and hypnotic remix. Herr Schmidt himself steps up to deliver two more fine remixes; the smooth minimal house vibe of old Force Inc. et al on the Nought remix while the Consumed mix takes it back into the electro realm, albeit a darker and harder take somewhere between Silicon Scally and E.R.P.

Review: Over the last four decades, we've come accustomed to veteran electronic experimentalist Uwe Schmidt surprising us with each successive album. Even so, we were still pleasantly surprised by his latest Atom TM release, whose title - Walzeryklus ("Waltz Cycle") - offers a hint to his latest inspiration. Recorded with angel-voiced singer Lisokot, the album is entirely made up of tracks recorded in the 3/4 time signature of classic waltz. Naturally, these waltzes are unlike anything you'll have heard before, variously taking in neo-classical inspired ambient, eccentric left-of-centre synth-pop, bubbly electronica, fizzing Rephlex style "Braindance" and even a gtouch of wonky, mind-altering techno.

  1. Martyn - "Jah Bedouin" (7:38)
  2. Atom TM & Tobias - "Physik E7532" (5:37)
  3. Planetary Assault Systems - "Hama Static" (5:21)
Review: The Zehn 12" sampler series from cam Ostgut Ton reaches edition Sieben and features Martyn, Atom TM, Tobias and Planetary Assault Systems on the cut. It's the DC-based Dutchman that takes the A-side honours with "Jah Bedouin", a trademark hybrid cruncher from Martyn that pairs a UK rhythmic bent with tunnelling dub techno vibes and the occasional, yet wholly enthusiastic vocal sample that inspired the title. Face down Tobias and Atom TM experiment with a darker strain of sinewy techno on "Physik E7532" whilst Luke Slater is in banger mode for closing PSA cut "Hama Static".
