Review: Mannheim minimal house imprint Sukhumvit (yes they're not actually Thai!) are back with another edition of their various artist EPs in the form of SOI 07. Acanalar are UK based DJ's/producers Benjamin Clarke and Connor Hillery who serve up the rolling and reductionist groove of "Project0009" on the A side, followed by newcomers Lost.Act & Mishel A with the stripped back and swinging tech house of "Lab". Review: Savor Music is fast approaching its quarter century but just ahead of that milestone comes another timeless EP from Alexis Cabrera. Everything from Chicago jack to Detroit soul is referenced in these well-crafted and club-ready cuts, starting with the cosmic cruise that is 'Funkhouser'. 'The Next Tomorrow' throws it back to the 80s in its bright synth chords and 'Guitars On The 5th Cloud' sinks into a nice deep and heady mood with its melancholic bassline and skittish synth-guitar sequences panning about the mix over a soft acid gurgle. 'Don't Give Yourself Away' brings a touch of silky electro rhythm though a menacing bassline keeps things firmly rooted on the floor.

Review: Fledging but already fine young label U.Dig out of Croatia is back with more final gold, this time from a master of the form in Alexis Cabrera. He kicks off with the mini-epic that is '1997.5', a real head-melting and elastic acid tune that is perfectly deep and rolling for the freaky afters. 'Straight Up' is more punchy and taught, with low-slung drums and crisp hits powering it forward. Last of all things get brilliantly unhinged on 'Microrama,' a kinetic and densely packed cut with flappy snares blaring synths, withering melodies and a true sci-fi feel.

Review: Berlin-based Argentinian Alexis Cabrera has been knocking out classy minimal and tech house OPEs for a while on top labels like Atypic and Supervise Music. He here arrives on the fledgling Into The Woods label with more of his well crafted late nigh trips. 'Insatiable' is a sublime mix of rubbery bass rumbles and smooth synths that loop in concentric circles and take you ever higher into heaven as they do so. 'Liturgia' is a more experimental mix of loops and synth modulations that bring subtle funk to the popping drums. It's playful and fun and 'Serial Light' shuts down with some jazzy snare work, rolling keys and beams of sunlight through the shutters at 5 am.

Review: Fun Records main man Alexis Cabrera follows up releases on top labels like Raum Musik, Salty Nuts and Little Helpers with an inaugural release for new label Studio 76. The Berlin based producer presents a great release here, from the minimal-retro influenced bounce of "Told You" or "So" which take their cues from the new sounds of Frankfurt as popularised by labels like Traffic, Hardworksoftdrink or Pager. On the flip, Croatia's Mariano Mateljan turns "So" into trippy and reductionist tackle, that's perfect for getting weird at the afterhours.

Review: Mulen's latest must-check release is a collaborative affair from experienced producer Alexis Cabrera (Raummusik, Salty Nuts, Yaji) and Jorge Saveretti (Esperanza, Visionquest, Cadenza). Given their collective history, you'll be unsurprised to learn that the "Some EP" is really rather good. They set their stall out via an impressive title track that wraps spacey but funky riffs, deep space pads and undulating acid lines around a memorable bassline and typically swinging tech-house beats). "KInda" tips a wink to the glitchy, bass-heavy sound of Romanian minimal techno and the swinging intergalactic tech-house funk of Paris's YYY label, while "Science" is a deep, woozy and wonky affair full of minor key bleeps, jazzy motifs and locked-in beats.

Review: Paradigms is the first instalment of a Various Artist series that sees Germany label U Dig welcome back regulars Alexis Cabrera and Mariano Mateljan next to newcomers to the family Masa, Jake Flory and Madezh. The sound is superbly tight, hyper minimal electronic funk that takes you on a wonky trip to a dance floor at 5am. Jake Flory's 'Octafunk' is a favourite for us - the bendy synths, daubs of neon colour, scurrying sound effects all bring the wriggling groove very much to life. Madezh's 'Look At Me' is equally effective with its direct kicks, off-grid chords and playful sense of funk.
