Multitrack Reworks Vol 9Multitrack Reworks US
While the Reflex was the first to forge a career out of multi-track re-editing (which would have been called remixing back in the disco era, since you are rearranging using the original parts), plenty of producers have followed in his footsteps in recent times - not least popular disco and funk party-starter Smoove. Here he serves up a ninth instalment in his excellent 'Multitrack Reworks' series. On side A he does a stellar job in reinventing Depeche Mode's 'Enjoy The Silence' as a squelchy, synths-and-slap-bass sporting mid-tempo disco anthem, complete with spine-tingling vocal breakdowns. He opens side B with a stripped-back, dubbed-out take on Al Green classic 'Let's Stay Together', smartly emphasising the bittersweet beauty of the original version's orchestral accompaniment, before delivering a sweet, head-nodding take on the Emotions' 'Blind Alley'.

The HengeRazor-N-Tape
Ben Sun is a London-raised but currently Margate-based producer who is now back on Razor N Tape with his full-length offering The Henge. It draws on his love of cooking up introspective analogue electronic textures and traverses several different moods and grooves with ease. At times bright and melodic, at others dark and brooding, it offers moments of euphoria and times of reflection. Stand cuts include the downbeat sounds of 'Moon Lion' and funky rawness of 'The Khan's Reverie'. Fact fans should note that the superb artist with the album was also designed by Ben himself.

The album features intimate storytelling and is accompanied by lush instrumentation as well as some signature emotive vocal performances that draw you into his vivid world. By adding a healthy dose of classic influences to his own sound, Mario shows he can still kick it with the kids here.

FUN TOY10K
This record marks Sideshow's fifth full-length album in just four years and it comes at a time when his career is gaining significant momentum. Following notable collaborations with MIKE, The Alchemist and Boldy James as well as the release of two albums in 2023-2MM: Don't Just Stand There and Jam-Sideshow continues to build his reputation here with production from Popstar Benny, Alexander Spit, Sideshow himself and others. There are plenty of contemporary edges to this, as well as a subtle undercurrent of respect for the old school, and it is sure to take Sideshow to a whole other level once more.

DM is the ultimate powerhouse rapper from Yonkers, a dominant force in hip-hop with his many high-energy anthems and unique attitude. His third album came soon after his sophomore effort, Flesh of My Flesh..., and only six months after his debut, It's Dark and Hell is Hot. This rapid-release strategy kept him at the forefront of the fast-evolving rap scene and years on it still stands up. The There Was X is a fine example of his powerful presence with Swizz Beatz-produced tracks continuing the same intense energy with all the usual gritty lyrics and fiery delivery.

New Balaance - Gravitational Waves EP

Gravitational Waves EPEterno
Eterno's third outing is as enticing as its first two. It's a pensive electro sound that managed to marry physicality with emotionality in perfect harmony. New Balaance is behind this one and opens with the serene, sweeping, widescreen pads of 'XTC' before 'v' rides on tighter, bumpier drums with swirling celestial melodies. 'Bacilica Cistern' explore a different rhythm with thudding kicks from techno and icy electro percussion floating through the cosmos as subtle signals beam down from distant planets. 'Multidimentional Beings' is a brilliantly ice-cold and funky closer with ambient smears and irresistible drums.

Drumsauw - Empire

EmpireDrumcode Sweden
Drumcode is heralded around the world as one of the leading techno labels for big room sounds. It has been that way since the 90s, but this new one from Drumsauw chimes with the current climate in that it brings some trance influences to its synths. 'Empire' has Goa vocals laced into the driving beats and strong-lit pads, then 'Cycles' has flashy melodies over rugged beats and 'Collision' pairs things back to a deeper but just as physical world of drum funk. 'Comet' shuts down with the most raved-up and peak-time sound - it is intense and inescapably big.

Tell Me Why (reissue)Dance On The Beat Italy
This was the debut single from Italian dance crew Prezioso & Marvin back in April 1999. It soon made waves as an international hit that bothered the top ten of charts around the world. It has all the hallmarks of a Euro dance classic of that time - the happy drums and trance chords, the camp vocals and a sense of optimism that defined the dawning of a new millennium, as well as some hella catchy pop hooks. This white vinyl reissue offers up various different versions for some retro fun.
