Cardiff's Che Ahmed produces under many aliases such as Chesus, Earl Jeffers and Metabeats, but had only one release as Earls BOOOM!!!l It was widely sought after, leading to another much needed repress here - now the third since its original release back in 2016. 'Thank You' is a thumpin' disco house monster that's looped to perfection, and its vocal is just epic throughout. The dusty, late night heads-down stomp of 'Badadu' follows, while over on the flip he remixes some golden oldies you'll for sure know from the first beat, in the form of 'D-D-D' and 'The Paper'.

A unique collaboration between Milo Fitzpatrick of Portico Quartet, and Jordan Smart of Mammal Hands, Vega Trails' 'Tremors In The Static' hears these two mega-accomplished musicians bring nine spaced out forays through melodic, solo double bass. Taking their name from the Carl Sagan novel Contact (the Vega system), Influences from Swedish fiddle to Indian Classical are woven into a minimized tapestry of ambient instrumental sounds. Verbed-out folk jazz for your pleasure.
Forest Drive West - Creeper
London-based artist Forest Drive West lands on superb Munich label Ilian Tape here with a new hand-stamped 12". He is someone who has mastered hi-fidelity minima bass music over the last few years, mostly on Livity Sound. This time out he offers four more of his intricate and masterfully designs cuts across two sides of vinyl as part of the ITX Series. As always there is a perfect balance between light and dark, physical groove and emotive synth work that pulls you in deep to his unique musical world. Do not sleep on this one.

Presha - RATS: Infest 2
Presha's debut EP RATS gets pulled apart and restructured by a crack squad of drum & bass talents on this fresh new red 12" from Samurai Music. Up first, 'The Spell' (Artilect remix) is a mix of heavy drum breaks and paranoid synth lines snaking about the background. Sam KDC's remix is another dark one with double time drums and drilling bass. The Untouchables remix keep it funky with their lolling loops and icy hi hats and the Last Life remix of 'Vedetta' goes for a textured, industrial vibe to make its mark in a blackened warehouse.

Pedro Goya - Boof Bonser EP
After a heading turning full length last summer on his own label, Pedro Goya is back with more of his twisted tech house and minimal fusions. This time he's on the Uiyba label and kicks off with 'Boof Bonser' which is all wonky hits and spinning hi hats, caustic synths and snaking bass. 'Carousel' then kicks hard with a 90s bounce and flailing hi hats while last of all is a remix from Federico Molinari. His take on 'Carousel' is one that pairs nice thumping house drums with wigged-out synth leads, noodling jazz chords and late night funk.

Calling a compilation Studio One Classics is a bit axiomatic if you ask us - just about everything the legendary reggae studio put out is a classic. Anyway, Soul Jazz have assembled a load more such seminal sounds for this special Record Store Day collection across two slabs of wax. It has plenty of big names, heavy hitters and well known tunes form all the genres most pioneering artists. The Heptones, The Skatelities, Horace Andy, The Wailers and Dennis Brown are amongst just some of the making this another essential outing.

The brand new record from Pale Waves is a high speed pop record laced with punk influences and rock energy that heads into bold new territory. It has proven a big hit with the rock press and fans alike and finds the band expanding their sonic palette as they explore new ways to connect with their die-hard followers. The Manchester group do so with big nods to 2000's punk-pop and lots of power chords, radio-friendly grooves and big choruses for festival sing-alongs. It might not be new to a certain age of music lover but for the younger generation this is sure to be a liberating listen.
