Alex Kassian's debut 'Hidden Tropics' EP showcased Balearic beat mixed with ambient drone, though the German artist forwent this natural ambient tone in favour of a deep house cut earlier this year in the form of 'Leave your Life'. 'Strings of Eden' shows a return to form, with 2 brand new tracks offering a serene combination of flutes, piano, and even wave sounds and didgeridoo on 'Passing Clouds'. One thing Kassian has not left behind is the collaborative spirit from 'Leave your Life', with one of the three spots on this record being a synth infused 'Strings of Eden' Garden mix by Miguel Atwood-Fergusson. Think of it as the cooling tropical night to Kassian's sunny day in paradise. Kassians EP is just that, it's a taste of paradise.

Strata Records is one of the most important notches in Detroit's jazz heritage. From Lyman Woodard Organization's Saturday Night Special to Malauwi's self-titled LP, their short catalogue was nonetheless vital. BBE have revisited the label with reissues in the past, and now they've invited nu jazz scene leaders Jazzanova to re-imagine some of the cuts from the Strata archives in their own fusion style. From Woodard classics like 'Joy Road', 'Creative Musicians' and 'Saturday Night Special' to Malauwi's 'Root in 7/4 Plus', these are seminal works approached with care and flair by a band who have undoubtedly proved themselves worthy over the years.

Finnish nine-piece Kuja Orchestra original version of the Afro centric Kuja's disco on Jazz Aggresion came in under 3 minutes so this unreleased extended version allows the instrumentation to shine through showing off some seriously good solos and horn arrangements.Rudy's Midnight Machine & Nik Weston's Mukatsuku mix makes more use of the uplifting strings for a dramatic intro ,adding a disco bassline and lashings of brass heavy horn workouts for the dancefloor. As played by Charlie Dark, Faze Action,Colin Curtis & Colleen Murphy

Erykah Badu tops up her patented purple vinyl reissue series, which she's slowly been building up over the last few years. Taking influence from hip-hop, jazz, R&B and art rock, the album 'But You Caint Use My Phone', originally released in 2015, dealt with the challenges of dealing with quiet-storm emotion in an isolated digital age. Prescient for the post-COVID era, this remaster and reissue is just as well-received for missed Zoom calls as it is for missed Nokia bells.
Jensen Interceptor and DeFeKT bring an emotive techno and electro EP to Tresor, channeling their styles as tools in the processing of trauma and loss. "Tresor355 - Free Your Mind - is dedicated to everyone dealing with illness... loss... to everyone who finds strength in the sound", goes its accompanying text. The music is hard-hitting, sharp and rejuvenating, with bits like 'Alpha Klub' standing out in particular for their knife-edge energy cutting though negative thought states. Power on.
Lawrence - Birds On The Dancefloor
22 years after his debut EP, micro-house classic Sporturlaub, hit stores, Dial Records co-founder Lawrence is still at the peak of his powers. That's certainly the conclusion we've reached having listened to Birds on the Dancefloor, a fine four-tracker for Mule Musiq full of evocative, melodious, atmospheric and morning-fresh deep house jams. Our pick of a very strong bunch is the ultra-deep, drifting, dubbed-out dancefloor drift of 'Everglade', though opener 'Highland Spores (House Mix)' - a heady and hypnotic fusion of micro-house and deep house - pushes it close. Elsewhere, 'The Awakening' sees the German pepper an undulating acid bassline and smooth beats with rising and falling melodies, while 'Meadows (sunrise edit)' is an intensely beautiful fusion of IDM electronics and soft-focus deep house grooves

Brazilian singer Maria de Fatima's only solo album Baha con H was recorded in Uruguay in 1981 whthe singer had settled with her then husband and synthesizer wizard Hugo Fattoruso. He was on production duties and the record mixes up classic covers of Brazilian sounds with plenty of original work and blended elements of Candombe, which were a result of the a-list of Uruguayan musicians who played on the recording. This is a first ever reissue of the album and it has been sourced from the original tapes. Liner notes are included as is a 12-page booklet with photos from Maria's own private archive.

The Organism - Ups & Downs EP
12" + INSERT
The Organism is long time tune maker who has a wide variety of sounds in his arsenal. For this new one on Tau he kicks off with a deeply exotic sound that has intoxicating strings and vocals wrapping around the groove. The whole thing makes for something really dramatic and original before 'Conquistador' ups the ante with a trance inducing tech house cut built on rolling drums and Middle Eastern sounding melodies. 'Cowboy' closes down with a more playful feel and some funky drum loops that carry you away on a nice breezy vibe.
