Let's Dance Vol 2Funkyjaws Music
Funkyjaws Music is back with more music to make your jaw go funky, this time in the form of a second volume of its Let's Dance series. It features a quartet of esteemed tune makers starting with Frank Booker's 'Yes No Maybe' which is a horn laced and loose-limbed delight, while go-slow master Eddie C brings his classy touch to the funky licks of 'Love Dancing Theme.' There are plenty of cosmic synth waves to Black Truffle's 'Dancing Through The Night' while the LTJ Xperience close down with a super laid back and summery vibe on 'Sunny Groove.'

Jar Of Flies (remastered)Sony
Alice in Chains' Jar of Flies from 1994 is a masterful album that showcases the band's versatility and songwriting prowess across an acoustic-driven collection of tracks. They deliver plenty of haunting melodies and introspective lyrics that make for a deeply immersive listen. There is a real melancholic beauty to 'Nutshell' while a gritty intensity pervades 'No Excuses.' Each song offers a glimpse into the band's emotional depth and musical complexity, always with raw emotion and captivating performances that make this one a standout release in Alice in Chains' discography.

On Your Feet Or On Your KneesMusic On Vinyl
On Your Feet Or On Your Knees was the band's first compilation and helped them shoot to stardom. With the rise of successful greatest hits albums, the label at the time pressured the young band to bring out a collection of previously released music, with then 12 songs featured here the result of collecting three songs per prior album that the band felt were their strongest. This album features some of the most beloved live songs by the band like 'Buck's Boogie'. For those that are new to the band, this is a great introduction to the history of BOC prior to their landmark hit 'Don't Fear The Reaper' smash the following year and this reissue comes on silver & black marbled vinyl.

Bloody Kisses: Suspended In Dusk (30th Anniversary Version)Roadrunner
Originally released in 1993, and noted as the first album on Roadrunner Records to be certified as Gold in the US (before achieving platinum status in 2000), Bloody Kisses served as the third full-length from gothic alternative metal legends Type O Negative. Boasting some of the band's most renowned cuts such as 'Christian Woman' and 'Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare-All)', while continuing their trend of odd cover versions with the controversial rendition of the Seals & Crofts' track 'Summer Breeze' (which had to be re-recorded and its revised lyrics restored to the original upon Seals & Crofts being offended by Peter Steele's "distasteful" reimagining), the project has since become the high watermark for the group's overall aesthetic and style. This green vinyl 2xLP reissue provides a new definitive home for Steele's revised digipack version that cut away many of the interlinking interludes in an effort to de-clutter the project. A move that may have left a bad taste in other members' collective mouths, but ultimately led to the project being one of, if not, the most notable and adored in the Type O Negative cannon.

Ray Barretto - Pastime Paradise (reissue)

Pastime Paradise (reissue)Major Keys
Stevie Wonder's 'Pastime Paradise' has thus far been less recognised as an original soul wonderwork, and more so as a sample by American rapper Coolio on the derivative 'Gangster's Paradise'. Though still having been covered by many artists over the years, Major Keys records highlights this enduring 1981 cover of Wonder's 'Paradise' by Latin percussionist Ray Barretto as among their favourites, if not their absolute favourite. Now the label reissue the gem, flaunting its up-to-date, nigh timeless feel; it's the opposite of a miracle that this has never before been released on a 12" single record, despite the fact that it is a favourite on the floors of jazz and soul rooms the world over. It also flips it with Barretto's own 'La Cuna' and 'Mambotango', taken from the same 1981 LP.

Temple - Who You Are

Who You AreTemple Musiq
Temple Musiq kicks off with a new EP from label head Temple. The opener 'Who You Are' has already achieved anthem status thanks to getting plenty of plays during Temple's own sets while he has opened for the likes of Rick Wilhite, Osunlande and Trus'me. It's got a nice drum machine drive, subtle acid lines and hooky choruses. The Prins Thomas remix is as you would expect a little more suspensory and cosmic, while Temple's 'Wait For Love' brings you back down to the dancefloor with a taught, twisted, tech house rawness that is offset by a sultry sax line. 'The Tetrah' then winds down with more elastic and dubbed-out, slow-motion house sounds.

From Oblivion Vol 2: Live In San Diego October 17th 1971Room On Fire
The title of this three track time capsule from psychedelic prog-rock legends Pink Floyd is apt. As a band, the British heavyweights have always been known for their breathtaking live shows, and this is as much to do with the soaring guitar chords as the cacophonous climaxes, with many tracks given the kind of on-stage upgrade that creates a wild, juggernaut atmosphere. Concerts to lose yourself in. Recorded as the 1960s faded into a new age of rock, one that would see compositions become grander, more conceptual, and, ultimately, heavier, From Oblivion Vol.2: Live In San Diego October 17th 1971 seems to capture the spirit of that moment. A time when technological advancements, and frustration at the commercialisation of other sub genres, were feeding explorations in sound that seemed to look beyond our world and out into the great unknown.
