Review: Spanish label Blanco Y Negro has got some irresistibly uplifting trance on its hands here from Italian Levy 9 in collaboration with Patty Dart. We can't quite work out whether this is a new tune from a mid-90s outfit or a reissue of their work from back then, but either way it is going to get your hands in the air and tears in your eyes such is the emotional overload of the synths in both tunes. The tunes come as remixes by Street 9 remix, a D-Floorfiller mix and an extended mix with big chords and catchy Euro-dance vocals.

Art Of The State - "2_HP_D" (7:03)
Dan Piu - "3_HP_D" (5:14)
Luis Malon & Seb G - "4_HP_D" (4:43)
Freddy Fresh - "5_HP_D" (3:35)
Review: The brand new Hyperdrive label kicks off with a mix of the old and the new - some tracks made recently, some that date back to the 90s, all of them top quality. Liquid Earth opens up with the spaced-out synths and electronic house sounds of '1_HP_D' then Art Of The State gets a little more tranced out and cosmic on '2_HP_D'. Dan Piu's '3_HP_D' is a tech house exploration with wispy sci-fi leads and a playful rhythm then Luis Malon & Seb G combine for the turbo-charged tech of '4_HP_D.' The legendary Freddy Fresh closes down with a high-speed sound on '5_HP_D.' Says the label, "Hyperdrive is dedicated to preserving the rich history of electronic music," and on this evidence, it will do so expertly.

Review: Multi Culti introduces Orchid's vibrant tribute to Spain's trance era on this album which merges Balearic allure with a rejection of modern techno's commercialism. Orchid, isolated in a psychedelic-deprived nation, yearns for the cultural fusion of sex, power, love, and sweetness found in Spanish-speaking music scenes. Techno Valencia beckons listeners to immerse themselves in a nostalgic journey, evoking the soulful resonance of a bygone musical era. Through exploration of archival sounds, Orchid resurrects the essence of pure musical expression, inviting a return to a time when music was deeply felt-a testament to passion and fun in an age of commercialisation.

Chasing The Rhythm (9:42)
I Will Shine For You (9:28)
Far Away (8:45)
Alive With You (9:15)
Review: A deliberate exercise in Y2K aesthetics and cyberpunk electrance comes in the creative output of DJ Natural Nate - his latest EP for Hoodwink Recordings, 'Notes To Jiggabot' - which consists of four tracks eulogizing his cybernetic partner-in-crime, Jiggabot (several releases from this pair have come out since mid 2018) and seemingly the object of his fantasmic affections. Whether the likes of new numbers 'Chasing The Rhythm', 'I Will Shine For You' or 'Far Away' originate from some angelic conceptual otherworld or this banal material one, it's hard not to love the signifiers poured into the EP: US freestyle jaunts, pure femme vocals doused in reverb-reverbs and melismatic hums; hyper-compressed, lightsabre-sculpted beats and visual cues reminiscent of childhoods spent lost in postmodern futuristic fantasies, such as those of Deus Ex or Blade Runner.

Review: Haws is heading towards a quarter of a century of releases and does so in style with this fine blend of techno and prog sounds from B From E. 'Ootheca' is one that turns our ear with its mid tempo drums and future cosmic chords layered up next to lush arps and plenty of swirling sci-fi details. 'Symetrix' is a more intense cut with psychedelic overtones and subtle waves of euphoria washing over you. Last but not least is 'Prophecy' which is a more deep and heady vibe but still one lit up with widescreen synth work and nice neon colours.

Review: The La Bush Team, as its name implies, is inexorably tied to the legendary club La Bush Temple Of House, Belgium, and consists of its three core members: Marino Stephano (CM, Dream Universe), Mauro Crisci (Hand's Burn, Good Shot) and Frederic Dourlens. This quadruple vinyl release, originally launched in 1999 alongside a CD version (equally rare to find), has indelibly etched its place in the history of Belgian Trance. Its collection of hits and a distinctive, instantly-recognizable sound has left just as enduring an impact. The records were an instant sell-out upon release, and in 25 years, they've never been re-released, remaining objects of speculation. Now, then, it's time to bring this series back into the spotlight. In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Serious Beats present is with a collection of the best tracks from the four vinyls of that era, along with exclusive bonus tracks from the CD which have never before heard a release on vinyl. You'll rediscover the famous 'Flanger', 'Renaissance', 'Backspace', 'First Day', and many others.

Review: The second of a two-part series of reissued trance classics celebrating the contributions of Belgian specialist-trance nightclub La Bush to the international scene. The La Bush Team Sampler hears the trialectic of producers at the heart of La Bush deliver a full-blown vinyl reissue of the hot selection of tracks they first issued on vinyl in 1998, to rip-roaring commercial success. Occupying this newly reissued PVC disc come additional pepperings from the contemporaneous CD edition also released at the time, which have never before heard a vinyl release. Rediscover such ex-stases as 'Renaissance' and 'Magic Hall', which nail trance's emotional synthetic formula and keep them going for the next-gens.

Krasa Rosa & MOS - "Solovey" (6:45)
Review: Melody Of The Soul is focused on an emotive strain of techno which takes its cues from classical composition as much as contemporary electronic music. On this new 12", rasa Rosa takes centre stage for a debut outing which makes an instant impression thanks to the stirring fusion of youthful choral vocals and bombastic strings set to a steady 4/4 pulse. 'Kukushka' is lighter in tone, shot through with a soothing balm of pan pipes and enchanting female vocals which persist into the collaborative cut with Ranta and Miroshin, 'Kolybelnaya'. On the final track, Rosa links up with MOS for a delicate, house-oriented meditation for the most spiritual, open-hearted of dancefloor moments.

Dyzen & Sideral - "Dialogue" (Recondite remix) (6:13)
Review: Habitat Recordings is an art platform from Mind Against which seeks to explore a variety of formats and modes of expression, but here they're focusing on the good old techno 12" with the finely curated pairing of Dyzen, Syderal and Recondite. First up on the A-side is Dyzen and Syderal with their catchy, chunky anthem 'Dialogue'. Then Dyzen goes it alone with a vinyl pressing for his digital single 'Radiant', which takes cosmic disco influences in the direction of big room techno. Finally, Recondite remixes 'Dialogue' and smooths out some of the edges for a straight-trucking version that keeps the original vibe very much intact.

Entry (6:20)
Review: Strap in for a punchy techno ride here as Micropulse wastes no time in setting the dial to warp speed on this Midnight EP for Atom Trance Force. The title cut opens up and is a hard techno pumper with some flat footed drum funk and edgy chords up top. 'Doesn't Matter' then has a hands in the air synth lead darting about the mix next to old school trance pads and a warped bassline over more hammering drums. 'Entry' shuts down with a final mix of trance and techno that is are to bring real carnage to the club.

Mayday Anthem (5:45)
Review: WestBam and Klaus Jankuhn conceived Members Of Mayday as a production team to produce the official anthems for each edition of the Mayday rave events in Germany. While that project disbanded in 2014 after more than 20 years, now the definitive of all the Mayday anthems is being revisited on Electric Ballroom. The original 'Mayday Anthem' came out in 1992, and it's absolutely redolent of the times with its killer rave stabs and proto-trance atmosphere, but there's still a welcome roughness to the tune which would soon be lost once production values and budgets started soaring. Offering something a little different on the A-side, Thomas Schumacher goes in hard with a romping arpeggio which sounds like Giorgio Moroder on steroids, strapping it under the track's classic elements to brilliant effect.

Review: Tiesto is one of the world's biggest and most recognisable artists by anyone's standards - he's played live at Disneyland Paris, for goodness sake - and he has a massive catalogue of hits that never go out of favour with his fans. One of the biggest is 'Traffic' from 2003, a tech trance classic that was, at the time, the first instrumental tune in 23 years to climb all the way to the top of the charts in his native Netherlands. It features samples of Sean Deason's 'Psykofu' and appeared on his album Just Be and Parade of the Athletes. It has been newly remastered for this fresh 2023 reissue.

Review: KI/KI's Slash label takes a deep dive into the history of hard trance and proudly presents a first re-issue of a true classic and personal favorite, 'Emerald', by Swiss production group Artemis. Originally released back in 1995 on the Swiss label Atoom Records, it's one of the most sought-after gems from this era. At its rather fast pace of 180bpm it's impressive how subtle and dreamy the nine minute journey is; the track ios a truly unique piece of hard trance history. Remixes come from Sansibar, Alpha Tracks and label owner herself, KI/KI.

Review: Grown-up techno label Kompkat has always served up its most dancefloor ready sounds as part of the Speicher series and it is now up to an impressive 129 installments. This one kicks off with Hunter/Game & U S H N U's collaboration 'Reload' which is an electric cut with bright synth lines shimmering about the mix next to thunderous claps and dark future vocals. On the flip, Bawrut cuts loose with rave stabs over dense percussive grooves with vocal snatches adding to the unsettling and boisterous mood of 'Clapa', which does indeed also have plenty of claps.

Review: Spray is an alias for Berlin-based Irish producer Tiarnan McMorrow. In the past couple of years he's been building up his own Spray label with releases from Dimensions 23, Drua, Anoesis and Marijn S. In the meantime, his own productions have been carried by Craigie Knowes and Kalahari Oyster Cult, so you should be clear on where his sonic interests lie. This is trancey tech house which tips more heavily towards trance than the average dabbler, not least on the piano soaked bombast of 'OT Rails' which should have you reaching skywards before there's even whiff of the first drop.

Review: COD3 QR welcome the mighty Roshan Chauhan debuting a new guise, Works Of Intent. You might better know him as R.O.S.H, a producer with a string of standout club 12"s released around four years ago for the likes of Rekids and Twin Turbo. Now he's honing in on a dramatic, measured approach to techno which emphasises spatial sound design and synthesis, keeping the rhythms poised to carry the towering sonics. This is particularly true on the epic 'Left Unseen', but also true of the re-framed hard trance synth blooms that shape out 'Old Ways, New Mistakes'. Those are but two points of intrigue on this assured statement piece from an artist plotting a new trajectory for himself.

Midway through, we encounter a neon-tinged breakdown designed to ignite the dancefloor. 'Reflected Wisdom' has a little more urgency and jaunty energy, Innellea clearly bringing the electrified funk. Five Phases is a series of releases and an upcoming extended live set journey, taking the audience in five phases from birth to death. From light to light in an audiovisual reflection of life: this EP represents its third and fourth phase.

They still sound right on point today which shows what a visionary Michel Spiegel aka Nuw idol really was. He himself describes this as "ancient galactic music decoded and restored for 4th dimension understanding". It is Alex Bradley who has put together this series of 12"s from the archive and you might have heard 'Restore' on a recent comp by Kalhari Oyster Cult. The entire EP has been remastered here in all its glory.

Review: Zakmina is Lukas Zeringis, previously spotted on Futureboogie and Minimood, with his classy take on the modern tech house phenomenon. 'For U' sees the up and coming artist link up with Bordello A Parigi and go all-in on the trance tip. Playing out like it's peak time at Amnesia, the A-side is full of sentimental bombast which will keep that summer spirit running well into the winter months. On the B-side, 'Take Me Back' dishes out more of the melodic charm with a sly shot of electro in the rhythm section for good measure.
