  1. Matin
  2. Alchimie Du Verbe
  3. L'Eclair
  4. Mauvais Sang
  5. Jadis
Review: The Fachwerk focus swings back in favour of Senor Rydell with this killer five track emission traversing the expected house and techno productions as well as some illuminating drone-laden soundscapes. It's the latter style that opens proceedings on the Propose EP, "Matin" reminding the Juno team of the excellent Jahiliyya Fields LP on L.I.E.S., with layer upon layer of crystalline sound and smudged vocals coalescing in wonderfully vivid patterns. After this short opening suite, "Alchimie Du Verbe" veers towards a more familiar dusty house foundation, yet the arrangement is still filled with expansive swathes of dreamy sonics. Flip over for something altogether more nightmarish, with "L'Eclair" reminiscent of a swarm of cyborg wasps congregating nearby, though thankfully this soon passes into the delightfully bumpy "Mauvais Sang" while the fractured Utopian stylings of "Jadis" completes this release in style.

  16. Delta Funktionen - "Torpor"
Review: The people who got to know Niels 'Delta Funktionen' Luinenberg through his ponderous Electromagnetic Radiation release or the adeptly programmed warm-up sets posted online may be surprised by the approach on Inertia. However, its direction could hardly be described as unexpected. The second volume of Electromagnetic Radiation and the grimy warehouse techno of Silhouette make perfectly clear that the Dutch DJ/producer likes to play it hard as well as deep. In that regard, Niels is not alone, and this mix, which consists solely of exclusive material, shows that a whole new wave of European techno producers is on the same wavelength. The mixture of the musical and forceful is audible from the outset, with textured chords unfolding over an angular rhythm on Sascha Rydell's "Rainy Days", a few tracks later as Cosmin TRG does his best mid to late 90s Ian Pooley techno impersonation over a rolling, warm bass and midway through on Peter Van Hoesen's "Last One at 1080", where evocative but eerie pads build to the backdrop of a prowling groove. It's a stunning finish to a mix that effortlessly balances the hard and the soulful.

  1. Limite
  2. Retransmission
  3. Limite (Saschs Rydell remix)
Review: Mike Dehnert is no stranger to Danish label Echocord, having released the thumping Breso EP on the label back in 2011, so this Roulement EP makes for a welcome and long overdue return offering further examples of his nuanced approach. "Limite" shows the prolific Dehnert at his most contrasting, pairing the subtleties of some delicate house stabs with teeth-gnashing textures and thumping four to the floor beat, while "Retransmission" is him at his most mind-bending, looping gritty, rumbling drums and a metronomic cowbell disturbingly treated vocal samples. Fellow Fachwerk producer Sascha Rydell's take on "Limite" offers yet more contrast, as every element is submerged in a heady dub cloud.
