Review

Welcome along to the third release of the brandnew drumpoet.comMUNITY recordlabel out of Zurich. The label is a cooperation with the mighty Compost Records and it works as a sublabel. Founded by Alex Dallas, Alex Gustafson (founders of Straight Ahead Recordings, aka. Earthbound), Tobi Foster and Ron Shiller (aka Soultourist), the aim is to release finest electronic music with a touch of soul and a strong need to rock the dancefloors on a deeper level. Music with attitude, personality and an individual approach. Soultourist is a collective of four producers from Zurich consisting of Foster, Ron Shiller, Phil Wüger and Big Clap. They all work also individually and release music under their solo projects. They exchange their beats and join forces for a new sound which finds its roots in boogie, soul and house. The first release was "Make It Right" which was released in 2005 on Sonar Kollektiv and was a big tune among the eclectic DJ community and was also playlisted by the likes of Jazzanova, the Rush Hour crew and Rainer Trüby to name just a few. With this release the boys provide a serious and essential 12", "Yeah" is a massive Detroit tingled tune which builds up slowly and turns into a deep and emotive but at the same time very stormy vibe. It's one of the tracks where you can be sure that at least one DJ in a club comes to ask you what it is. It's fresh and original. The track "Maniac" shows the open-minded attitude of Soultourist and their ability to get the driving groove working also on 100 bpm. It's just a great single which has found massive support already. This boys are fuelled for the future and their talent will hopefully help to establish their very distinguished musical taste and style.
