Having recently celebrated their second year as the best Friday night out in South London, World Unknown present their third 12", which more than continues the standards laid down on their inaugural releases. Rotters Golf Club cohort Timothy J Fairplay opens proceedings with the fine dollop of bristling, juddering 303 refractions that is "Cleopatra Loves The Acid". Monolithic techno beats caked in mid tempo sludge are the thumping backdrop to the twisting acid and compressed vocal that details Ancient Egypt's fancy for a dab of acid. It's a big track from Fairplay which has already charmed the ear of Andrew Weatherall and is matched on the flip by Kalidasa's "Bursting Through". The alias of the brains behind The Acid House website, Kalidasa's debut production for World Unknown is aptly titled, exploding into bursts of psychedelic sonics unannounced after burrowing a groove in your head via the insistent midtempo beat.
