New York-based South African Brendon Moeller has enjoyed a long and distinguished career, impressing with a post Basic Channel take on techno that adds cute melodies and warm chords to typically sludgy, bottom-heavy grooves. Works is his first album proper under his given name, and gathers together 10 cuts that neatly display the breadth of his talents. For the most part, it's a fluid and languid set, delivering tracks that sit somewhere between dub techno, melodic European minimal, IDM and the futuristic warmth of Detroit. While floor-friendly, there are enough downtempo diversions and positive melodies to ensure that it won't sound out of place on your home stereo.
