Having got his break via two well-received 12s on No More Hits, Russian producer Andrey "Buzz Compass" Bychenkov transfers to Glenview for a four-track trip into housed-up re-edit territory. It's a typically mixed bag. There's a funksome Rick James re-edit, a tough version of Run DMC's "It's Like That" (blessed with extra vocal samples and quamtized beats), and a house version of a Ghostface Killah tune where Bychenkov's new beats are far higher in the mix than either the vocals or delicious original strings. The final cut, "It's Like That (with Shannon Acapella) is just that; a loopy, house version of the Jay Dee tune of the same name with Shannon's famous "Let The Music Play" vocal placed on top. We'll leave you to decide whether it works or not!
