Perhaps the cutest concept behind a record release in some time, Connaisseur present Welcome Ava, a four track EP with artists asked to contribute productions in honour of label boss's Alex and Hilary Flitsch newborn daughter. How the artists involved - dOP, Of Norway, Pat Chardronnet and Masomenos - chose to approach the project was left open to interpretation and the results are pleasingly diverse in execution. Parisian troupe dOP contribute two tracks; they collaborate with Masomenos on opening track "Hello" which occupies the playful, dubby and ambient nursery strata whilst their solo production is more familiar speakerboxx embellished twanging techno fare. Audiomatique regular Patrick Chardronnet opens the B Side with a charming and quite sprawling downtempo harp filled excursion called "Source Of Life" whilst Of Norway address Ava directly with the swirling psychedelia of "Song For Ava".
