By the time Rajko Muller released his second album We Are Monster in 2005, he'd long since moved on from the delicate microhouse sound with which he made his name. While there are echoes of pioneering work like "Beau Mot Plage" in tracks like "Pillow Talk" and "Do Re Mi" a kind of tooled-up, acid-flecked version of his most famous hit Muller was far more interested in exploring his synth-pop, IDM and new wave roots. As a result, We Are Monster here released in re-mastered form by DJ Koze's Pampa imprint is far more bold and brash than its predecessor, full of low-slung punk-funk swagger, pulsing nu-disco synth bass, heavy synthesizer riffs and snarling indie-rock guitars.
