Wareika have always been an intriguing proposition. A German trio dedicated to making "organic dance music" that blends live instrumentation with woozy electronics, they've previously impressed with albums on Perlon and Tartelet. Here, they bring their particular brand of intoxicating wooziness to Visionquest for their first full-length in three years. Wternal is an enticing prospect, delivering atmospheric, late night attitude with a live performance twist - all undulating rhythms, winding space melodies and, in the case of the superb "Ocean's Drive", what can only be described as soft focus tech-funk. There's even a smattering of flamenco guitar and some European easy listening vocals. That this works is testament to their curiously off-kilter talent.
