Six-piece funk and soul band The Pimptones are the brainchild of jazz guitarist Nick Pride, who formed this Newcastle-based group in 2007. With a penchant for funky grooves and beefy breaks, Nick Pride & The Pimptones bring the horns to the front and turn up the heat! Their slick arrangements have all the harmonic sophistication that the jazz cats love, delivered with a heavyweight punch that keeps the dancefloor moving. Side A's "Waitin' So Long" featuring Jess Roberts is a gritty deep funk and soul nugget complete with big horns and a female soul vocal, whereas "Lay it On The Line" feat. Zoe Gilby boasts a finely crafted melody with a smooth soul-jazz groove.
