Jennifer Cardini sure has done a great job of curating Correspondant over the years. Eclectic as the label's output may be, she sure has an ear for retro-ish sounds, particularly EBM-ish and electro-clashy sounds of late as heard by the likes of Borusiade and Squarewave. After encouraging the comeback of another electroclash legend in the form of The Hacker she now presents one of electroclash's most foremost proponents in the legendary Vitalic. The Frenchman presents two servings of grinding and steely analogue machine music. On the A side is the haunting "Film Noir" with its layers of rich synth leads and pounding vintage drums sounding like John Carpenter goes disco. On the flip "Ooey" is a more upbeat and groovy offering with its infectious vocal hook and chunky arpeggio leading the track towards dancefloor oblivion.
