The first volume of the Underground Disciples series opens with a newbie from Marko Militano, who has previously released on labels such as Bananza Music, Revival and Frankie Knuckles' Noice. "Contemptuous" retains a trippy house vibe as it runs its course; soft vocal hits ride the balmy synths with aplomb. Japanese Imugen Orihasam, probably best known for his works on Ilian Tape and Etoka, contributes "M's Groove" - dark and moody, it's a tech fuelled ride through dripping corners and hollow pockets. Flip over and Volta Cab's effort spans the borders between house, dub, space disco and techno. Beautifully executed, "Wash Machine" concentrates on the high end of its elements while a female vocal breezes sensually and a heavy bassline and piano riff take things to another level in the second half. Finally, Minister Mike's "Together Underground" is another delight, mature and classic with a solid undertow.
