Truncate's "7_1" first appeared on wax back on 2014, on the A-side of a 7" single dedicated to revivalist acid and Chicago jack-tracks. Producer David Flores has decided to revisit them two years on, serving up his previously unreleased 12" mix - a subtle extension that makes more of his nagging acid lines and whispered vocals - plus two fresh reworks. The first of these comes from M_nus man Kevin McHugh under his Ambivalent alias, and successfully drags the track further towards driving, main room techno territory. Arguably even more impressive is the thrillingly wonky Silent Servant version, which recasts Flores' original as a bittersweet chunk of melancholic acid weirdness.
