Formed out of a partnership between a rag tag collective of musicians working samplers, modular synths, clarinet and tape dubs to maximum effect, Tru West kicks inaugurates the Marmo Music label with a serious message of intent. The a-side is given over to the ranging experimentation of the group, veering between moments of uneasy calm and abrasive noise through the fluid process of live jams, but ever injected with warmth as the dextrous clarinet provides a welcome anchor point to the grotty textures around it. On the flip, DJ Sotofett gets busy with a remix that takes thin slithers of the original material as a jump off point and plunges head first into an exotic world of wonderous live drums, tumbling congas and jungle noises aplenty, making for one of the most thrilling sides of vinyl you're likely to hear all year.
