Discovered by Still Music, Hirofumi Goto (aka Rondenion) has been causing some serious waves since "Blues Rhodes Dances", his first release for us. It was played and hyped by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Mr Scruff, Michael Reinboth, Mads Matts (Machine Doll was an anthem at the Raw Fusion party in Sweden), Jimpster, Straight No Chaser and many others. Well, here is the second serving from our man from Tokyo, announcing his first album to be released on Still Music next year. Heavy is the word for the first track on this stunning EP. In a precise beat down house mood crossing over with funky hip hop, Necessary One For Me is a dancefloor killer, the bassline is loud and the beat intense. As Adam from Giant Step puts it: " Reminiscent of Pal Joey and Kenny Dope era cut n' paste productions", Nough' said! A2 sees Rondenion dropping a 7 minutes plus journey into funk, jazz and soul. Another one that will bring us straight to the sound of KDJ, Theo Parrish and the 3 Chairs. Still with a killer house beat, Aging New Style is hypnotic, the vocal riffs, the organ sound paired with the funkiest harpsichord are essential for this demonstration in groove. On B1, Rondenion pushes the envelope forward with a jazz infused joint. Tokyo Story starts with a truly insane vibraphone hook that brings so much swing into this house cut lifted by a deep jazz guitar riff. Another one for the Detroit heads. Finally, Hirofumi closes this groundbreaking EP with Outer World. Definitely "a propos", this tune brings back the sound of hip hop together for another round Tokyo style. Definitely for the future B Boys out there. Catch the piano riff!
