Icelandic producer Yagya (AKA Reykjavik resident Aoalsteinn Guomundsson) has enjoyed a long but unusual career. Unlike many producers, he's chosen to focus almost entirely on albums, sporadically releasing impressive sets that join the dots between ambient, downtempo and dub techno. The Inescapable Decay of My Heart, his fourth solo full-length, continues this trend, offering a range of melodic, melancholic, emotion-rich cuts that shuffle between the speakers at an impressively sedate pace. The first disc features a range of impeccable vocal cuts interspersed with occasional glacial instrumentals, while the second boasts slightly more club-friendly, vocal free tweaks. As home listening fodder goes, it's superb from start to finish.
