Three years of quality releases as both Red Rack' Em and Hot Coins has seen Nottingham based producer Danny Berman elevated to the upper echelons of highly lauded disco meets house producers with Gilles Peterson moved to whisper that Berman "can't put a foot wrong". The momentum moves up a few notches with the launch of Berman's label Bergerac, named in homage to deep house lover John Nettles (watch out for Berman's vinyl only Nettles imprint too). The Early Years bridges the gap between Berman's past and future with 13 tracks of Red Rack' Em productions - mostly vinyl only releases - and a clutch of new tracks. The sound veers from mid tempo jazz leaners such as "Christmas Day" to the soulful future stutter funk of "Whole New Way" and a healthy dose of crisper Ugly Edits beat downs. Newer tracks such as the abstract jazztech funk of "NG Style" and deep jack of "Housey" make this an essential purchase for fans of Moodymann, Balihu or The Revenge
