It's fair to say that Morten Sorensen isn't the most prolific of artists, however the Norwegian did score one of the defining moments of nu-disco's golden era with his debut EP. The title track from the 2008 Start Something EP deftly sampled a Chic classic and still retains dancefloor potency some years on. Tirk is once again his destination of choice for his second solo release in the shape of The Burn Down EP. Once again, Sorensen has scored a real winner with the title track, adopting a stripped down house poise that quickly finds its groove, all uplifting rhythms ascending over skipping drums, ably assisted by a vocal refrain dipped in classic house dynamism. Just wait for the mid point drop! London residing Paraguayans LPZ (check their Keep Up! Releases) get the call to remix the track, adding some weight to the drums and slipping in new bass movements - it's one of those remixes that doesn't try to replicate the euphoria of the original but succeeds in introducing a different mood.
