Responsible for one of many highlights on the recent If This Is House Zwei compilation on Permanent Vacation, Berlin residing Irishman Mano Le Tough continues his renaissance after a period out of the spotlight with this stellar EP for Ben Watt's Buzzin Fly imprint. Notable for combining a deep understanding of melody with intricate dancefloor rhythms and an affectionate approach to track titling, the Stories EP shows several pleasant deviations from what we've expected. The most obvious addition is Le Tough's own voice, which lines the title track and only serves to ramp up the heartfelt sensation. Alongside it "From The Start" is an odd mutation of almost dubstep rhythms and gloopy acidic textures that cut through the dreamlike melodic swirls. On the flip "Take It Back" operates on the kind of steadily floating house plain that established the Irishman as a talent to watch out for, and overall this limited EP provides a tantalising insight into the variety we might expect on the forthcoming debut Mano Le Tough album, due out next year on Buzzin Fly.
