Despite the somewhat questionable title, Steve Bug's latest 12" for his Poker Flat operation does indeed do what it says on the tin. The three tracks here are simple DJ tools for the dancefloor, the bass lines are indeed thick and the execution is raw. This also extends to the track titles themselves with lead cut "The Arpeggio" dominated by some jagged manipulation of a lead acid line from Herr Bug. The thickness of his bass lines is displayed most prominently on "Thickest Bass" which features a vocodered titular hook that only reinforces this - excellent drop for the DJs on this one. The amusingly named "Smoking Parrot" ends on a simpler, trackier note - Simple, Thick and Raw it is then.
