According to the people behind the new Love Machine label, Stargliders' "Cosmic Gold" was recorded in 1982 for a science fiction movie that never got made and was "rediscovered" in 2010. This may or may not be true; either way, it's been an in-demand track with cosmic disco enthusiasts ever since. Certainly, it sounds authentic, as if it's were a long lost track by French cosmic disco royalty Space, circa "Magic Fly" or "Carry On, Turn Me On". It chugs in all the right places, with distinctive vocoder vocals riding a wave of vintage synthesizers. On the flip, Darren Morris and Ashley Beedle don their Afrikanz on Marz guise to give the track a contemporary makeover, thickening up the beats, dubbing it out a little and stretching it to a heady 10 minutes.
