Italian psychonauts Sonic Jesus have carved out a considerable niche for themselves, dealing in a particularly vitriolic and nihilistic brand of third-eye cleansing repetition that takes the spirit of their krautrock forebears and the essential droogy essence of Hawkwind on a rocket ride around the more unforgiving realms of the 21st century. This eponymous EP dates from 2012, and was the curtain raiser on their dark world of swirling, garage-driven synapse-frying mayhem, with a dash of post-punk attitude to taste. Fans of everything from White Hills and Loop to BJM and The Black Angels will find themselves quite happy to drift in this particular vortex.
