After a solid year in which they've given us edits from Ashley Beedle and Rahaan, the cool cats at KAT HQ unveil something a little different - two disco-flavoured, soul-flecked housers from Abu Maxim & The Praetorian Steppas (AKA occasional Rush Hour type Freak Seven). Both "Sometimes" and "Sweet Love" press all the right buttons, combining classic jazz-funk, soul and boogie samples with modern production techniques to devastating effect. It would take several hours to list all of the forgotten classics utilised to make both tracks, but suffice to say that Freak Seven gets it just right. Rock solid grooves, classic touches and delicious strings... what more do you need?
