2011 will see Glaswegian label Soma Recordings celebrate twenty years of putting out quality house and techno, which is no mean feat and the imprint has been responsible for seminal moments: Daft Punk's "Da Funk" and "Positive Education" by label owners Slam the most celebrated. Ahead of this milestone year, Soma end 2010 on a high note in delivering this fine compilation that represents the good job Stu and Orde Slam are doing. Perennial Soma acts such as Silicone Soul, Funk Da Void and The Black Dog form a prominent part of the track listing, but room is made for newer names in Gary Beck and Harvey McKay. In addition Soma include some new versions of old favourites with Joris Voorn turbo boosting Samuel L Session's 2006 club jam "Can You Relate?" whilst Slam's hypnotic industrial techno wonder "Azure" gets embellished with some bassline melody by The Black Dog. It's the latter along with the role reversal Slam remix of The Black Dog's "CCTV Nation" that impress the most.
