After the stunning turn that commenced their Shifted Flow imprint, the regular partnership of Burton and Rathod follow it up with another EP that appears to go even deeper into thrilling realms of reduced, jazz-inflected groove without reaching for any of the obvious tropes. "Back To The Carpet" is as laconic as can be, with just a light dusting of top end percussion and a whole lot of room for a sax to sound out in with the perfect amount of late night sleaze. Bangla Designe joins in on "Down" for a delay-rich shuffler that stays in the ultra-micro realm of beats, while "Mable" revisits the wafer-thin garage that was touched on with the previous EP. That's just the A-side, so waste no time in jumping on this record.
