Gothenburg-based producers Shakarchi & Straneus received a fair amount of praise for their debut release on Geography Recordings, the double A side "Macedonia"/"Iraq". It's likely that more plaudits will be coming their way soon, thanks to this joyous five tracker for the Studio Barnhus imprint. Dodskallar Och Korallev (try saying that after a boozy night out) sees them cheerily flitting between styles, from classic deep house ("Clinton Hill" & "Who Killed Captain Alex") and nu-disco influenced piano jams ("Mogadishu") to triple-beat Gonkyberg jazz ("Liseberg") and even a dash of downtempo ("It's Vinter Welcome To Sveirge"). Given the duo's relative lack of production experience, we can't help but be impressed.
