Like his fellow countryman Hans-Peter Lindstrom before him, Joachim Dysrdahl (best known as Diskjokke) has abandoned shiny Norwegian disco in favour of something altogether more atmosphere-driven. So where Dysrdahl's previous two albums shimmered to the pulse of progressive electronic disco, Sagara is an altogether more fragile, introspective beast. Almost entirely beatless, it gently sways and pulses to a languid mix of found sound (recorded on location in Indonesia, mainly), crystalline electronic melodies and slowly throbbing synth chords. It's certainly an unexpected progression, but like Lindstrom's grandiose Where You Go, I Go Too, Sagara just oozes emotional resonance.
