Ah many was the Tuesday morning the Juno review team spent hungover, slightly regretting hitting the hay at 4am after a night down The End at Trash and then Durrr dancing to the DJing of Rory Phillips while trying to catch the eye of that Swedish Arts student. Since those heady days, Phillips has supplanted his DJing escapades with a series of excellent remixes - for example his revision of The Units classic "High Pressure Days" towers above the more recent Terje effort. Finally Rory steps out with some original material, on his own recently established Mixed Fortunes label, with this twelve inch the second of six planned releases over the coming months. "Cosmic Fluff" sounds like Phillips has been having all sorts of fun with the vintage analogue machinery he covets so much, as 303 and 909 modulations combine with the sort of machine made glee that promises much for the rest of the series. On the flip, "Mover" drops the tempo down markedly, veering down the same 70s OST indebted path that Timothy J Fairplay has recently, the difference here it's complemented by the crispest of punk funk drum arrangements.
