The first release of a new year for Kontra-Musik sees the Malmo label introducing a new face to the ever diverse roster in the shape of Roberto Clementi. With previous material for Echochord and Soma, Italian Clementi has shown he belongs at the dubbier end of the techno spectrum and it's a style he brings to Kontra with the four track Diodes. Apparently executed using "tape and field recordings and an array of analogue machinery", Clementi's range as a producer is on full display here, with the title track dominated by that wonderfully lazy dubby chord that dances around throughout. "The Optimist" could be considered the 'banger' here, such is the instant feeling it instils, whilst "15 Years Later" is positively dreamlike.
