Having opened proceedings on the Tsuba Limited sub label with last year's EP The Luchador, Rio Padice makes a welcome return to the imprint with the decisively titled Return Of The Luchador. Retaining the lineage set down by subsequent Tsuba Ltd drops from the likes of Zoo Brazil, BLM and Milton Jackson, Rio Padice presents four tracks of raw, emotive, analogue rhythms that expertly meld tracky rhythms with rich and enduring atmospherics. "Sider Sofa" is perhaps the best example of this, with crisply sprung drums perfectly complemented by the warm oscillating pads and gut nudging bass tones, before proceedings twist inside out with the arrival of subaqueous keys and shimmering chords. There is plenty to admire in the remaining three tracks from the Italian, not least the simmering energy of "Sax On The Beach".
