It's easy to forget just how influential this album was in its time. On its original 2000 release, Rest the debut album from glitch-house pioneer Rajko Muller trailed a blaze for a genre popularly known as microhouse. While Muller and others (notably Matthew Herbert) had been exploring the sound for a number of years by the time Rest appeared, it brilliantly demonstrated the genre's potential as a musical artform. Presented here in remastered form, "Rest" still sounds wonderfully fresh. Its twist on house glitchy, spacious and hypnotic, but laden with touchy-feely synth sounds and soothing melodies is just as beguiling now as it was back then.
