German producer Andy Kohlmann shows why he's rapidly earning a reputation as one of the most talented minimal house producers. The title track is an insistent drum-led groove pepper with micro samples, while "Norbert Funk" proves his versatility as a deep disco filter and a vocal sample intoning the phrase 'da funk' make for a thrilling concoction. Marco Fender drops an excellent stop-start take on "Zirkus", replete with subtle tonal shifts, but the highlight is "Sahnekamm". Underpinned by incessant, thumb clicking percussion and an insistent funk bassline, Kohlmann deploys the kind of squalling sax stabs last heard on Pure Plastic's abstract forays.
