Strictly Rhythm ledge Peter Black revisits the Black Order project - and for those of you unfamiliar, Electropolis go so far as to include a printed one sheet that describes the reasoning and history behind a series of releases that began in 2005. Indeed, this is the first Electropolis release since 2007, and contains three raw compositions based on ideas Black had between 1991 and 2005. In period since then, the technology that powers what we call edits has changed exponentially. However, it's clear that the ideas that go into "One Base" could never be replicated using Ableton or similar software - a dizzying dissection of The Clash at their most ubiquitous, the version on this twelve is a 2011 master of a test pressing that did the rounds in 1991! It literally thumps off the needle and the bassline will cause chaos in any dancefloor situation. The flipside synth boombap take on Beastie Boys sounds oddly out of key but retains an off kilter charm whilst "Lost Afternoon" plunders the same little fluffy source as The Orb. It is however the A Side that demands your attention.
