Some artists suit the album format more than others. Dutch producer Pitto is a good example. While he has quietly impressed with a handful of 12" singles over the past few years, his brand of uneasy techno-pop - featuring prominent vocals, field noises and glistening, glassy melodies - suits the humble long-player. This debut full-length gives him an opportunity to showcase this sound over the course of a pleasing hour, shoehorning in a few ambient moments (complete with oddball spoken word vocals) to help the flow. There are dancefloor moments - see the grandiose piano jazz exploits of "every Second Of You" and "Where My Soul Is Now" - but these are merely upbeat flourishes in a sea of mellow introspection.
