The limited, hand-stamped presentation of the Canoe releases matches the music contained within, all grainy and unusual but utterly tooled up for the club. Nyra's pet project is providing a fascinating insight into the make up of this ever emerging artist, and tracks like "Opening Rhyme" are sure to pique interest from all kinds of adventurous spinners. While the track may start in a kind of looped up deep house headspace, after the breakdown it takes an unexpected, thrilling swerve into twitchy acid. "Tape Trek" is more overt in its surreality with its layers of pitched speech getting run through the mill and splashed over a primal drum machine beat. "Galaktik" meanwhile has a touch of old skool rave about it, but it's far from an obvious throwback track. Suffice it to say, we'll have whatever Nyra's having.
