Two releases in the same week from Gunnar Wendel is generally described as a good week here at Juno HQ. The producer best known for his work under the Kassem Mosse moniker debuts the Seltene Erden pseudonym, with the four tracks here lavishly deep explorations. Press release gospel informs us this moniker was born when Mule asked Wendel to make ambient song for an upcoming compilation, and they were instead treated to four. The shimmering slo-mo dub of "Northen Rae" gets things on the A-Side to a stunning start, complemented by the crackly ambience of "Bayan Obo". Flip over for the Theo-esque rhythms of "Kvanefjeld" and perhaps the most breathtaking of the lot - the intensely relaxing, beatless soundscape of "Hoidas Lake".
