"Guv Three" (Deadhand remix) |
News broke recently that heavyweights James Ruskin and Mark Broom were on the cusp of releasing a full length album together as The Fear Ratio, to a collective spine tingle for fans of finely sculpted techno. Ahead of that Blueprint slip out this hand stamped 12" that sees tracks from Light Box given the once over in an appetite whetting exercise that wisely doesn't reveal how the album will sound. Warp stalwarts Plaid remix "Morning Blues" in their own inimitable style, implementing heavily swaying tempos with almost playful abandon amidst multi layered bubbling analogue arpeggios that veer between glistening and scratching. Somewhere near the end, the lolloping groove locks into something approaching a dramatic crescendo. The flipside sees Broom and Ruskin don their Deadhand guise for an excellent remix of "Guv Three", all dub heavy steppah rhythms over harsh industrial wastelands of sound.
