Although initially Moon Duo were largely perceived by most as a satellite project of psych-rock drone-voyagers Wooden Shjips, the married team of Ripley Johnson and Sanea Yamada have created such towering works of monomaniacal majesty in a prolific five years to date that this, their third full-lengther, looks liable to comprehensively escape the shadow of Johnson's other outfit. On 'Shadow Of The Sun', the couple use their trademark two-chord workouts as launchpads for glistening synth hooks, sultry Velvets-style sulkfests and Hawkwind-style interstellar travel alike, resulting in a drone-pop monolith fashioned from neon - irresistible.
