Berlin-based graphic designer turned musician Donnie Dubson (real name Donnie O'Sullivan) has been active round the fringes of the drum & bass scene for some time, pushing a particularly melodic and atmospheric take on the liquid sound. This debut album for Fokuz, five years in the making, develops that sound further, offering a variety of ear-pleasing liquid D&B grooves. For those who dig that sound, it's an accomplished and polished production. Musically, it sits somewhere between the classic liquid/atmospheric sound of Bukem and early Adam F, and the more recent output of Hospital Records - a fusion that should ensure plenty of smiles at jungle-leaning afterparties.
