Under the expert guidance of Tony Justice and the Modern Urban Jazz imprint, up-and-coming drum and bass producer Diamond Eye has put together a seriously promising debut set. Clearly influenced as much by drum & bass's jungle past and the smooth grooves of late 90s era Good Looking releases as liquid D&B and contemporary breakbeat jazz, Moments In Life smartly fuses crisp beats, rolling rhythms, dub influences and smooth, spacious chords. From start to finish, the results are never less than ear-pleasing, carefully balancing a dancefloor sensibility with the needs of a home-listening long player. As debuts go, it's pretty impressive.
