"Freaky Dancing" |
After that monumental Golden Fleece twelve late last year (seriously how good was that 11 minute take on Bauhaus?) Mixed Blood Cuts returns with label boss men Richard Sen and Cazbee at the helm for the seventh volume. All three cuts here betray the standard Mixed Blood template of left leaning revisions of less than ubiquitous source material. Opening track "Twilight Hearin'" for instance is a heavily dubbed sway through ankle hugging disco rock, gradually unfurling into a brief vocal section before an almighty guitar solo arrives to play the track out. Alongside it "Beatin' Bush" sees strains of heavily orchestral disco weaved between a killer jittering drum pattern whilst the titular vocal refrain gets squeezed repeatedly. Check the flip for a glorious elongated sojourn through dusted down mutant 80s discoid jam on "Freaky Dancing".
