Under The Shade's subterranean house offshoot 3rd Strike have hit the right note with every release to date. Here the label presents Mankind, with the only information on offer the suggestion they are "two brothers beamed to Atlanta from a passing interstellar cruiser exploring celestial spaces to fulfil a quest to further the cognizance of recurrent frequency patterns in relation to ethnology". So far so obscure, but thankfully the music matches the mystery with "Metro City Blues" a delightfully languid saunter through subaqueous rhythms and gently muscular drum programming. Providing a nice contrast "Come Go" is more immediate with tight kicks leading the way, chords and burning synth flourishes crossing over in kaleidoscopic fashion and dusty percussion adding some nice shuffle. The mid point arrival of spectral key jamming adds a nice touch of eccentricity. San Frandisco's Honey Soundsystem provide a nice choice for remix duties with a dubby take on "Come Go" that realigns the track for the midnight hours.
